About Philip
I am a certified music educator, professional musician, and experienced band director with over a decade of teaching and performance experience. I currently teach at the high school level, where I work daily with students of varying abilities, helping them develop strong fundamentals, musicianship, and confidence.
In addition to my work in education, I am an active pianist and performer, collaborating with ensembles, churches, and community organizations. This combination of classroom teaching and real-world performance allows me to offer practical, well-rounded instruction.
I am known for being organized, patient, and encouraging while maintaining high expectations. My goal is to create a supportive learning environment where students feel motivated, challenged, and proud of their progress.

My lessons are built around strong fundamentals, clear goals, and making music enjoyable and meaningful. As an experienced high school band director and professional musician, I tailor each lesson to the student’s age, experience level, and musical interests while maintaining high standards.
A typical lesson includes warm-ups and technique, focused skill development, repertoire work, and practical musicianship such as rhythm, music reading, tone production, and theory. I emphasize efficient practice strategies so students know how to practice, not just what to practice.
I work with beginners through advanced students, including middle and high school musicians, adult learners, and students preparing for auditions, solo & ensemble, or school performances. My approach is structured, supportive, and results-driven, helping students build confidence, independence, and a lifelong appreciation for music.
