About Rhys
I am a highly enthusiastic tutor who is determined to help students achieve their goals. I am very approachable and quickly build rapport with students, but I am eager to get results. I was lucky enough to benefit from a top class education and fell in love with learning from a young age. This allowed me to become proficient on the Piano, Violin, the rugby pitch and in the classroom. I love nothing more than helping people fall in love with their subjects and achieve their potential. I have been volunteering with looked after children for nearly a decade. Through this I learnt how to help children deal with a difficult start in life by broadening their horizons and giving them knowledge and opportunities from which they would not have otherwise benefited. My professional experience lies in journalism and current affairs. My ambition is to engage students by sharing my knowledge with them which can help bring the subjects I teach to life and give students interesting new angles to their work. I specialise in refining the written and oral communication skills. My aim is to produce students who are confident in their ability to write and speak in clear and engaging language. I am particularly interested in students who wish to break into journalism, as well as those who wish to stand out from the crowd and make an impact with their work.

I offer a bespoke tutoring service tailored to your needs. Tell me about your goals and I will help you reach them. We can use mind mapping, memorising facts in engaging ways, essay planning - all in a way that is interesting and even enjoyable! We can also work on your communication and confidence in oral and written form. I am a specialist in journalism with national and international reporting experience in television and radio. I have a strong academic background, with excellent A-Levels, a first class honours in History from the University of Reading, and a Master's in Broadcast Journalism from one of the United Kingdom's most prestigious journalism schools. My passion is giving students the tools to achieve their potential by gaining confidence quickly. - What subjects do you teach? English, Welsh, History, Journalism, exam preparation, essay writing and oral communication skills. - What are your qualifications? History (First Class Honours) - University of Reading Master's in Broadcast Journalism (Distinction) - Cardiff University School of Journalism. Grade 8 Violin. Shorthand (100 words per minute) - Where do you teach? Online or face-to-face in Swansea. - How long will lessons be? Lessons will be an hour long. They will generally start with the discussion of a particular topic before we apply this to your assignments. We would then move on to exam questions or essay writing to improve how the knowledge we have learned is communicated.
