About Mathieu
French is my first language. I am proud to say that speaking this beautiful language gave me an edge in communicating in English with elegance. As an elementary school student, I learned English as a second language. It was harder than it should have been until I had a teacher that made me focus on verbs. Later, as I went to serve a mission in Argentina, I learned Spanish as well. I believe that communicating in new languages is fun and absolutely judgment-free. I am used to teaching kids between the first grade and the sixth. Although young, this clientele is usually quite sensible. If I do great with them (which I do) I will do wonders with you! Expect answers to emails on a set of days I shall give you. I am extremely understanding of unexpected problems and can readjust or even modify the very lesson on a dime. Please understand however that changing the time in which a lesson will take place can better be made if told in advance. I am an enthusiastic French Canadian always ready to make you smile while imparting with you parts of the Argentinian culture or the French Canadian one.

Practice makes perfect! I am convinced that the best way to learn a language is through the verbs. A session with me is fun and requires effort. A special emphasis is made on learning the grammar surrounding verbs. With them well known, one can always describe a word in order to say or write down an idea. Whether the lesson be on speaking or writing, each session starts with a little chatter (that progressively gets 100% in the language taught). I push students every lesson up to feeling “soar”. I see the brain as a muscle. As such, it needs to be trained until it almost hurts in order to grow. This level will be met at different times depending on the focus, energy and emotional state of my student. Once this state is reached, the lesson enters a decrescendo in order to rest the brain. If lessons are too spread apart, exercises will be given. Lessons are a good match for students with a minimum of understanding of their own first language. Past that point, I can teach to beginners as much as to more advanced learners.

Mathieu is a loving, humble and smart person. I’ve always been impressed by how he would teach me languages or any other subject we would discuss together. He has a natural gift to teach others in a unique way! This is a big part of why I fell in love with this guy (I’m Mathieu’s wife by the way). Even if he’s my husband, when it is time to learn something, he’ll become instantly a teacher and will do it professionally. Even I, have homework to do! Everybody loves him. He makes you laugh and helps you become the best version of yourself. If you choose him as your tutor, you won’t regret it!
Ive seen him with kids and just other people in general and he is caring and listens to others.
He's also kind and patient, which I think is a must to be a great teacher.
