About Candace
Having a wide range of teaching experience including classroom and one-to-one and group settings, I have the ability to determine the best approach with each student so that their lessons with me are tailored to their individual needs. I typically work based on a student-led method with lots of participation, questioning and using critical thinking skills.

I hold an MA and BA in History with an undergraduate emphasis in Classical History and Womens Studies. Additionally, in 2013 I completed an MRes (MSc) in BioArchaeology, focusing on Biological Anthropology and in 2019 I graduated with a PhD in the same field. Having attended a top undergraduate university UCSD, and worked with one of the leaders in my field at the University of Reading, my academic experience allows me to work with a wide range of students. I tend to create bespoke approaches and utilize student-based or inquiry-based teaching methods which allow me reach students who have mild SEN, medical, or behavioural needs, along with the brightest children who are aiming for top marks. Since I was diagnosed with ADHD and Dyslexia as a child, I try and use my personal experiences and knowledge to help students. My current and previous students attend competitive day and boarding schools in the UK, Switzerland and China including Rosey, CLC, Wycombe Abby, Teddies, Oundle, Dulwich (China and UK locations), TASIS, and more, which also influences my teaching approach. Older students, including those at university level, find working with me reduces their stress and improves their comprehension. Although I worked as a classroom teacher and university lecturer, I enjoy working as a tutor with students since it allows me to express my creativity through the lessons, create a good relationship with my students and provide the support needed to succeed.
** Please note: I offer an introductory phone call with parents/older students to ensure I can meet the expectations of the student but I do not offer a 'free trial lesson'.
