About Quentin
Hi, I'm Quentin, I'm 25 and I live in Manchester. I work as a Senior Data Scientist for the UK government. At university, I completed a BSc in Maths at Durham University (1st class honours) and a Masters in Maths and Programming at Edinburgh University (distinction). I have tutored Maths to numerous students, ranging from GCSE to university level. Over the years, I have gained extensive experience as tutor. I've tutored a wide range of students from helping a student improve their GCSE to teaching advanced concepts to a gifted student. I currently teach programming to a small group of students on a weekly basis I love sharing knowledge and helping others. It all started during my studies, where I consistently found myself helping my classmates. I decided to take it a step further and started volunteering to tutor students of all ages. I found it very rewarding, especially when students showed real improvement like when one went from a C to an A in their Maths GCSE! So I've kept tutoring and helping others ever since. I'm passionate about maths and my goal as a tutor is not just to help you understand maths but to show you that maths can be fun, exciting, and even a little bit magical. I think that Maths is crucial, not only for its knowledge, but because it teaches you important skills (like reasoning) that are essential later in life. I look forward to hearing from you.

During the first lesson, my main focus is on getting to know the student better. I take the time to gauge their strengths and weaknesses, and understand what learning style works best for them. This helps me create a personalised learning plan to maximise progress. In a typical lesson, I use an interactive online whiteboard to share material and collaborate. Before each session, I prepare a range of activities and questions that align with the curriculum and learning objectives. We work through these exercises together. If the student encounters any challenges or confusion, we will spend time going over the topic until they are comfortable. For example, if a student is struggling on some equations, I would use an online grapher or draw an example for them to visualise the idea. I believe in fostering a supportive and patient environment, where students can ask questions and seek clarification. By having a blend of activities and personalised guidance, I strive to make maths engaging, enjoyable, and accessible to every student I work with.
