About Alex
I have been teaching students both in the classroom and as a tutor for 8 years. One of the things I love most about teaching is getting to know my students as individuals; everyone has unique strengths and approaches to learning, and I promise to help you feel confident in your abilities as we tackle your challenges together.

Who am I as an educator? First and foremost, I believe learning should be fun, authentic, and experiential. I love getting to know my students as individuals and designing learning experiences that will reach them where they are developmentally, and that will feel meaningful and engaging to them. As your tutor, I will work with you to identify your strengths and help you capitalize on those to address your challenges. And, I’ll do my best to make learning together fun!
A little about my background in science and in teaching:
I studied environmental science in college, which allowed me to deepen my understanding in each of the science disciplines. My science classes included: Introduction to Global Climate Change, Physical Geology, Environmental Chemistry, Energy and Thermodynamics, Environmental Ecology, Hydrology, and Atmospheric Physics. For my major, I also took courses in calculus and statistical analysis.
In the classroom, I have taught AP Biology, AP Environmental Science, high school chemistry, high school biology, high school ecology, high school geology, high school literature, middle school earth and life science, 7th and 8th grade math, and English as a foreign language.
In addition to my science skills, I have strong analytical writing skills. I have worked with students on writing assignments ranging from thorough lab reports, to analytical essays, to creative blog journals.
