About Chandler

I’ve been playing music for over 25 years, with 21 years of experience on guitar specifically. For the past 17 years, I’ve written, recorded, and performed music professionally across a variety of settings both as a soloist and in ensembles/bands, developing a strong foundation in both live performance and studio work. Alongside my performance career, I’ve spent the last 13 years teaching music to students of all ages and skill levels. My approach blends real-world musicianship with practical, accessible instruction, helping students build both technical skill and creative confidence. I focus on making music feel engaging, expressive, and achievable, whether the goal is performance, songwriting, or personal enjoyment.

My teaching approach is centered on helping students become independent, creative musicians rather than just memorizing material. I combine structured fundamentals such as technique, rhythm, theory, and ear training, with a flexible, student-driven approach that adapts to each individual’s goals. Whether someone wants to write songs, improve their improvisation, prepare for auditions, or simply play their favorite music, I tailor the material to make progress feel practical and engaging.

A typical lesson usually begins with a short warm-up focused on technique, followed by work on a core concept such as chord building, scales, rhythm exercises, sight reading, or song analysis depending on the student’s level. We then apply that concept directly to real music: learning songs, writing parts, or improvising, so students immediately see how theory connects to actual playing. I always end with clear practice goals so students know exactly what to work on during the week.

What sets me apart as a tutor is my focus on real-world musicianship and creative development. I’m not just teaching students what to play, but how to listen, how to think like a musician, and how to develop their own musical identity. I emphasize ear training, feel, and expression just as much as technical ability, helping students build confidence in their own sound rather than relying solely on memorization or charts.

My lessons are for all ages and skill levels looking to refine songwriting, theory, reading, or improvisation skills, among other things. I work especially well with students who want a balance of structure and creativity; people who want to understand music deeply while still having fun playing it.
