About Nestor
I am a composer, arranger, conductor, multi-instrumentalist and music educator with more than 25 years of experience performing, creating and teaching music across England, Spain, Portugal and France.
Over the years, I have performed in more than 1000 concerts as a soloist, ensemble member and orchestral musician, working across Classical, Jazz and Contemporary Music. Alongside performance, I have spent more than a decade teaching students of very different ages, backgrounds and artistic goals, both privately and in schools, academies and group settings.
After many years inside both academic and professional musical environments, I gradually became more interested in questions that often exist beyond technique alone.
Why do some highly trained musicians still feel disconnected from their own artistic voice?
Why do so many students lose motivation after years of study?
Can creativity, sensitivity and imagination be developed with the same seriousness as technique?
I do not claim to have definitive answers to these questions. In many ways, I continue exploring them myself through performance, composition, teaching and artistic collaboration.
For this reason, my approach to teaching and mentoring is deeply personal and adaptable. Technical development is important, but I also believe music involves perception, listening, expression, curiosity and the search for an authentic artistic identity.
I work with students ranging from complete beginners to experienced musicians, including performers, creative artists, aspiring professionals and people reconnecting with music later in life.
Lessons and mentoring sessions may include:
* instrumental development
* improvisation
* interpretation
* composition
* artistic identity
* stage presence
* listening and musical perception
* creativity and expression
* performance confidence
* GCSE & ABRSM support
Above all, I try to create a space where music can be explored not only as a discipline, but also as a meaningful artistic and human experience.

I do not approach music as a standard weekly lesson based only on repetition, exercises or fixed academic programmes. Over the years, my work has evolved more towards artistic mentoring and creative musical guidance.
These sessions are designed for people who are looking for something deeper and more personal in their relationship with music, whether they are beginners, experienced musicians, performers, composers or artists searching for direction, confidence or a stronger artistic identity.
Rather than applying the same method to everybody, I work closely with each person’s goals, concerns, creative interests and musical sensitivity. Some students may need technical guidance, others may need help developing confidence, interpretation, improvisation, artistic focus or reconnecting emotionally with music.
For this reason, mentoring sessions are often more reflective and long-term than traditional lessons. In many cases, a single session can open enough ideas, exercises, listening material and creative directions to explore for weeks or even months.
The process may include:
* artistic guidance
* interpretation
* improvisation
* composition
* listening and musical perception
* creative development
* performance confidence
* stage presence
* practice direction
* aesthetic and artistic reflection
I also remain available for questions and follow-up between sessions whenever guidance or support is needed.
My goal is not simply to “teach music”, but to help each person develop a deeper, more conscious and authentic relationship with their own artistic voice.

These sessions are not designed as conventional weekly music lessons focused only on repetition, exercises or standard academic progression. They are personalised artistic mentoring sessions intended for people looking for deeper creative development, artistic reflection and long-term musical direction.
For this reason, sessions are usually developed in extended 90-minute formats in order to allow enough space for conversation, listening, interpretation, creative exploration and practical artistic guidance.
Depending on the individual process, some students work with sessions every few weeks or once per month rather than through traditional weekly structures. The focus is placed on independent artistic development between sessions, personal exploration and long-term growth rather than constant supervision.
Mentoring sessions may include:
* artistic identity and direction
* interpretation and expression
* improvisation
* composition and creativity
* performance confidence
* stage presence
* listening and musical perception
* practice guidance and artistic focus
* overcoming creative blocks
* developing a more personal relationship with music
This approach is not intended for everybody, and it may not suit students looking for highly conventional or purely exam-oriented tuition. It is designed mainly for musicians, performers, creative artists and individuals who are searching for a more reflective, personal and artistically meaningful approach to music and creative development.
