About Luke
I have a passion for seeing others achieve in their schooling and I enjoy passing on my knowledge from my years in NCEA. I believe with the right approach to problems and a couple of basic concepts, you can complete most of the NCEA assessments to excellence standard. My tutoring style is quite personal. I modify my teaching methods to work out what works well for you and teach in the most effective style.
I graduated Burnside High School in 2016 with a platinum service award after achieving excellence in each level. Having completed the system myself, I know the tips and tricks to achieving excellence, which helped me gain Burnside’s excellence awards in mathematics every year of high school. My all-around abilities and attitude towards school also helped me achieve the South General Excellence award. I also completed Cambridge and the UC AIMS courses. During my years at high school, I was also my class representative on the South Division Council, a South Divisional Prefect, Staff Support Prefect, Computer Support Leader and an academic tutor for Chemistry and Mathematics.
Outside of school and University, I’m an air cadet, where I have achieved solo flight. In this organisation, I am a training officer, planning weekend camps and exercises for over 100 cadets. I’m also involved with the unit mentoring programme, helping others through the cadet ranks. Through this organisation I have completed over 50 camps, including 4 weeklong promotional courses, teaching classroom lessons and leadership skills. I’m also involved in the ENGME! Mentoring programme, where I help first year engineering student’s transition into university life.

Having tutored for the last 4 years, I have a lot of experience helping students fill gaps for their exams and achieve well. I aim to make sure all students not only understand the content but know the parts of the questions that are important for meeting grades.
