About Tom
Hi there!
I am a dedicated and experienced guitarist and music educator. I am committed to spreading the joy of music and have worked internationally as both a performer and teacher. I play and teach all styles of guitar playing!
As a performer I have been fortunate enough to appear on some major stages including the Royal Festival Hall, The London Jazz Festival, Cheltenham Jazz Festival, The Queen Elizabeth Hall, The Royal Albert, The London Guitar Show and many more. I have recorded for the BBC, CBC and others and also actively work as a guitar accompanist for various singers and soloists. I have performed as a soloist on board Queen Mary 2's transatlantic voyages between USA and UK.
I gained my bachelors in music at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music in London where I studied classical guitar under tuition of Graham Anthony Devine. I graduated from Trinity Laban in 2014 with Bachelor of Music with Honours.
Subsequently I was awarded a scholarship to continue my studies in Canada. I headed to Vancouver where I studied guitar under tuition of Dr Daniel Bolshoy at The University of British Columbia. I was awarded a Master of Music in the spring of 2016.
During my time in North America I was also first prize winner at The Northwest Guitar Festival Competition held at The University of Idaho in 2016.
I am passionate about teaching and always strive for my students to be the best musicians that they can possibly be. I give all my students equal care and attention. I am comfortable taking on all guitar students (any ages, abilities or styles). I am also comfortable teaching piano (up to intermediate level) and music theory and composition (any level). I have held teaching positions at numerous music schools and academies internationally and am committed to spreading the joy of music to all!

I have loved music for as long as I can remember. As such, I believe that my primary role as a music tutor should be to inspire and introduce you to new music and methods of playing.
I want you to be the best musician that you can possibly be. I can teach you any style of guitar playing, from electric to fingerstyle, from country to classical. I want you to play the music that you want to play!
I can prepare you for exams, performances, auditions or (perhaps most importantly) if you just want to play for fun!
I have a relaxed, informal but diligent approach to teaching. I will improve your technique but I also have a heavy focus on musicality, feeling and expression.
