About Rishi
I am a passionate piano tutor with 2 years of dedicated teaching experience, specializing in advanced jazz performance. I hold a Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) in Piano Performance, which informs both my technical standards and artistic depth. High-level playing requires clarity and discipline.
I guide students preparing for Berklee, Juilliard, and other conservatory-level jazz piano programs. These auditions demand more than talent. They require strategy and polish.
In lessons, we strengthen harmonic vocabulary, voicing technique, rhythmic precision, and improvisational fluency. We also refine touch and tonal control. Technique must support creativity.
I am committed to unlocking each student’s creative voice while sharpening the skills required for competitive programs. Growth happens when challenge meets support. Together, we develop confident, expressive jazz pianists ready for the next level.

My teaching methodology combines technical discipline with clear theoretical understanding at the piano. Technique without theory is incomplete. Both must work together.
I explain music theory fundamentals through direct keyboard application. Scales, chord progressions, and inversions are practiced in real time, not just written on paper. You see and hear how they function.
Harmonic analysis is introduced through repertoire. Students learn to recognize patterns, cadences, and modulations inside their pieces. Understanding removes confusion.
I work particularly well with The Exam Taker and The Classical Performer. Exam preparation is structured and goal-focused. Accuracy and theoretical clarity are developed side by side.
For classical performers, we deepen interpretation through harmonic awareness and phrasing control. Musical decisions become informed and confident.
Lessons are tailored and progressive. We also build foundations for composition and improvisation. Together, we create pianists who play with knowledge, control, and purpose.
