About Shakuntala
I am a recently retired teacher who has a passion for learning. I enjoy taking on new and exciting challenges. I also have two children that have inherited my passion for learning. I found that teaching my grandchildren through their primary school years has given them much joy and development and I'd like to give this to as many children as possible. I hope to pass on my love of learning and help children to succeed with their education
• I have 34 years experience of teaching in multi- cultural schools and I have gained vast experience of the whole of the primary age range from nursery to year six
• I have taught in secondary and adult education
• I have been a private tutor for over 10 years
• I am experienced in Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 exam preparation
• I am able to help children with their literacy, numeracy, spelling and handwriting
• I provide individually tailored 1 to 1 teaching
• I can help your child to catch up, keep up and move forward in their learning
• I have extensive experience in teaching English as a second language for people of all ages

I use a wide range of teaching styles, methods and resources. I have high but realistic expectations of my pupils and I work hard at making my teaching materials differentiated, interesting, meaningful and motivating.
I have always loved teaching and I’ve always enjoyed making resources for the children to meet their individual needs. Colleagues have always commented on the quality of my teaching resources.
I frequently receive feedback from children I teach and their parents that they have fun in my lessons and they can’t wait for the next one to start.
