About Jared
Does your communication need a confidence upgrade? Wracked with nerves in meeting and presentations? Training in theatre skills can build self-confidence, help mitigate stress and elevate you ability to communicate successfully with others.
Hi, I'm Jared, an actor and theatre-maker based in Manchester. I have toured nationally and delivered theatre workshops everywhere from primary schools to prisons. I've also worked extensively as a private tutor, both individuals and for groups in the corporate sector.
I've seen firsthand the difference that performance skills can make for everyone from business leaders to teachers, from lawyers to sales teams. From getting comfortable in your own skin to emotional understanding and working effectively with others, these skills are not just for the stage.
I studied acting at the Newcastle Theatre Royal under Phil Hoffmann, where I trained in classical and contemporary text as well as physical theatre. Further training included Shakespeare (under Michael Corbidge, RSC), improvisation (Paula Penman), voice (Ros Steen) and acting for screen. I have also studied under voice coach Yvonne Morely-Chisholme and hold a BA in Linguistics from the University of York.

I use a broad and adaptable toolkit to cater to your specific needs. Be it voice and breath work, applied movement, improvisation, text work, character workshopping, singing or anything else, together we will find the most helpful developmental practices for you.
In our first session (30 minutes free consultation) we'll discuss your needs and create an action plan. I work very collaboratively and flexibly - we'll move at your pace and find what works for you.
Online tuition is available, although where possible I find working together in person yields the best results.

Perfect! Jared is a great teacher and is very good at tailoring the curriculum to my needs and experience. He is patient and excellent at linking the exercises to my goals (which are targeted to professional presenting rather than acting in itself). Jared has a knack for putting you at ease, which is especially helpful when you're an acting novice like I am! I can highly recommend Jared as a tutor.
