About Ria

Experienced Psychology & Sociology teacher with 5+ years delivering outstanding results at GCSE and A-Level. I currently teach in a highly challenging school and consistently support students to achieve A/A* and 8/9 grades—even in the face of significant barriers.
As a trained AQA examiner, I offer expert insight into exactly what exam boards are looking for. My teaching is shaped by regular exam board CPD, ensuring my methods and marking are always aligned with current expectations.

About the lesson

I take a student-centred approach, starting with regular reviews to identify strengths and gaps in knowledge. Each lesson blends retrieval practice, clear teacher input, and application, ensuring students build both understanding and exam confidence.
We work through exam questions every lesson, co-constructing high-quality model answers before progressing to full independence. I place a strong focus on essay-writing and exam technique, so students know exactly how to maximise marks.
Progress is tracked through end-of-topic tests, helping to consolidate learning and drive consistent improvement.

Ria had been my tutor for about a year and half while I was studying at sixth form. Her lessons are massively helpful and always gave me extra help with things I was struggling on. She was always happy and ready to help. I would definitely recommend Ria as a tutor to anyone

Ria is my friend and she tutored me for sociology and psychology for my A level exams. She was excellent at tailoring her tutoring to my specific needs by identifying the areas I needed the most help with in terms of subject knowledge and content, as well as helping to hugely improve my writing structure for long essay-style questions. I strongly recommend Ria as a tutor to others as her passion for social sciences is so evident, which really helps develop your understanding of the subjects as she is very articulate, and brilliant at explaining theories and their applications to the real-world.
