About Charis
I am a trained Secondary School English Teacher with a BA (Hons.) in English Literature and a PGCE, both from Newcastle University. I am currently studying for an MA in Education at UCL's, whose Institute of Education is ranked best in the world.
I have taught a huge variety of students, and work to build learning environments that feed student potential and broaden their knowledge-base. Students come away with a toolkit for life: improved analysis skills, a wider vocabulary, and a very firm understanding of texts. No matter your starting point, I will stretch you to achieve!
I specialise in all GCSE, IGCSE, and A Level exam boards; International Baccalaureate; Cambridge Pre-U and 11-Plus.

My lessons are 60 minutes in length, although I am flexible! I take a student-first approach to tutoring, as I believe that success stems from enjoyment of the subject, rather than rote learning. Students build confidence through my systematic test preparation, built during my years of teaching.
My client base covers those who want to push themselves to achieve top grades for Cambridge Pre-U and Oxbridge, as well as those struggling to get a 'Pass' grade at GCSE; I am experienced at teaching those with a variety of educational experiences, including students with SEND, EHCPs, and school refusers.
However varied, all my students have one thing in common: they come away with an enjoyment of English and the success that comes with this.
