About Koi
I am a knowledgeable tutor, proved by the many accelerated classes, awards, certificates, and attendance of spelling bees and bowls under my belt, scoring a first place in one of the spelling bees and one of the spelling bowls.
I have experience working with children and teens for many years. I have previously been an unpaid tutor in my high school, and I have been a teacher's assistant twice, both in ELA and reading classes. I have three siblings, two younger, and I have taken care of them since they were toddlers. I have taught them and tutored them with any English-related questions and struggles they have had. Every student (and my siblings) I have helped have gotten much better grades under my support.
Taking care of my siblings while my parents were out has helped me develop patience, while teaching/tutoring or simply taking care of them. Previous tutoring experience has helped me grow in professionalism and encouragement when assisting kids and teens with the help they need to grow.
Anything English-related gives me joy, and I love it. I would be happy to share my joy and happiness with students, while helping them succeed along the way!

I am a soon-graduating high school student who has attended accelerated English, ELA, vocabulary, and reading classes. I have earned many awards and certificates for my talents in the subjects, and I have been a part of multiple spelling bees and bowls. I can support kindergarten through 7th grade.
I prefer to travel to a student's home, but I will teach virtually if needed. My lessons are completely tailored to each individual to meet the learning styles and strengths of each student and help them grow where they need to with a supportive, encouraging, and relaxed environment.
I can help with English, vocabulary, reading and reading comprehension, study techniques and skills (tailored to the student's needs and accommodations, if any), and spelling.
I want to develop their skills, and also promote independence, build confidence, and inspire students to continue learning on their own along the way.
I will support the student by assisting in homework, projects, essays, and assignments. If the student has an IEP or similar needs, I will accommodate anything they need to make their tutoring experience as smooth and comfortable as possible with understanding and kindness.
