About Paul
Currently I tutor math in Spanish for recently arrived high-school students from Guatemala. I learned Spanish as a child in Latin America and have kept it up since. Spanish speakers ask where I'm from, since my accent is native (though geographically unspecific) by now. Education is a central function of our nonprofit, which just last year acquired its 501c3 designation; we currently work with children but aspire to teach English as well as Spanish literacy to immigrants who never went to school.

Learning a language requires repetition, which will bore us stupid unless we find ways to make it fun: language is best learned in the context of play. If the materials you're working with don't lend themselves to play, we'll find a way ourselves. I always suggest Mexican lotería as a good way for beginners to intermediate learners to play/practice, as well as finding movies and music in Spanish that keep your attention. Grammar is important, but it will stick much more easily in a useful and interesting context than in a chart of endings.
