About Kate
I have been teaching K-5th Grade Students Spanish for the past three years full-time in schools with great success. I have my masters in Childhood Education from Bank Street College of Education in New York City.
I am a strong teacher both in person and with online lessons. Students have a lot of fun in my classes. While I prefer to work with smaller groups 1 to 3 students, I can teach up to 8 students. I intentionally keep my class sizes small to maximize learning. My students do a lot of speaking in my Spanish classes and we play a lot of fun games and songs in my classes. It has been my experience that the more fun the students are having, the more that they are learning.

I strongly believe that as much as is possible, the teacher and students should remain in the target language (at least 95% of the time). Most often, a teacher can clearly convey meaning by acting something out, drawing a picture, showing an image, or bringing realia (real objects) into the classroom.
I create a generative curriculum based on my student's interests. For example, with a recent group of students that was interested in animals, I taught the students about different animals in Spanish and they learned how to describe where an animal lives, what it eats, and what its physical characteristics were. Students had a lot of fun guessing what each other's animals were after hearing the descriptions.
I am a big believer of students being able to produce language at all ages! After all, when young children learn their first language, they can speak quite a lot!
