About Kelsey
Hello! My name is Ms. Jackson, and I am a passionate Special Education Teacher with over five years of experience helping students of all ages develop confidence and mastery in English. My background spans from elementary education to adult learning, allowing me to create lessons that are both accessible and engaging for diverse learners. I take pride in creating a safe and supportive learning environment where students feel valued, capable, and motivated to grow. As a tutor, I believe that every learner deserves to be seen, understood, and supported at their individual pace. My teaching method combines structure with empathy — blending evidence-based instructional strategies with social-emotional awareness to build confidence as much as competence. I tailor each lesson to meet the academic and emotional needs of my students, particularly those with learning differences, language delays, or attention challenges.
A typical lesson begins with a warm check-in to assess readiness and focus, followed by a clear goal-setting segment that aligns with the student’s IEP or personal learning target. Instruction includes multisensory techniques, guided practice, and real-world application to ensure comprehension and retention. I close each session with reflection and encouragement, empowering students to take ownership of their progress and celebrate small victories along the way.
What sets me apart is my ability to connect — I teach English not just as a subject, but as a bridge to confidence, creativity, and communication. My background in special education allows me to differentiate instruction effectively for students from elementary through adulthood, supporting emerging readers, English language learners, and neurodiverse individuals alike.
