About Leon
I have tutored and coached throughout my adult life, my students work hard and get results. Physicist at Durham University, naturally curious and hard working. I aim to contribute to the success of others and my communities. My well-developed physical intuition helped me massively in GCSE and A-Level STEM. Understanding marking criteria and exam etiquette is vital for academic success: One's understanding is developed by practice with intent. You earn your confidence, improve your exam technique, and gain deep physical intuition with attention and application. I got my start in tutoring as a natural development from coaching others in Martial Arts/fitness and volunteer mentoring schemes. I discovered that I was good at helping others to understand new topics and develop new skills. Two years ago I began to monetise this skill through MyTutor. Lessons revolve around identifying and developing comprehension gaps, where understanding of a topic is lacking. We will isolate weak points through past papers and focus on these areas. Memorisation and flashcards will not suffice for the A/A* grades (contrary to popular belief), you must learn how to think and approach questions; my tutoring approach reflects this, with emphasis on leading students to the answer themselves.
