About Charlotte
I have been a Secondary English teacher for 11 years, 6 of them as Head of a successful and vibrant department in North Oxfordshire. In that time, I have also been an Aqa GCSE English Language examiner so my knowledge of what is needed to succeed in this qualification is particularly strong.
I have recently had my second child and relocated to be nearer to family. Sadly, this meant having to leave behind a school that I loved.
Teaching English is something I enjoy and don't want to stop. Supporting and encouraging students to achieve their goals and ultimately move on to whatever they wish to do next is what makes this career so motivating.

Confidence is crucial to motivating students. If you feel you can do something, it becomes less intimidating. Breaking skills down and modelling success so that it is clear, accessible and manageable is an important process to build confidence and progression. At GCSE, knowing precisely what the questions are assessing and supporting students in crafting succinct responses and thoughtful writing, enables my students to be successful. Being able to explore a range of material that not only interests the individual but also challenges them to experience things beyond their own reality is one of the elements that makes English such a crucial and exciting subject for me and my students.
