About Ameena

I want to teach English, SATs, and the 11-plus because I find deep fulfilment in guiding students through these critical academic milestones. My "why" is rooted in the "lightbulb moment"—the instant a student finally cracks a complex comprehension passage or masters a difficult verbal reasoning puzzle. I am a strategic mentor who values foundational mastery; I don’t just teach a subject, I teach resilience and "exam craft," giving children the tools to remain calm and logical under pressure. I see myself as a bridge-builder, helping students transition from their current level to the high expectations of selective secondary education. Ultimately, I am an empowerer who is disciplined and detail-oriented, driven by the belief that providing a child with a competitive edge today can fundamentally change the trajectory of their future.

About the lesson

I am an experienced tutor for the SATs and 11+ tutoring and also for English and creative writing from KS1 to KS4. As a specialist tutor, I provide expert, results-driven support tailored to two pivotal academic milestones: KS2 SATs and the 11+ entrance exams. For younger learners, I focus on mastering the National Curriculum in English and Mathematics, building the core skills and exam confidence necessary for a seamless transition to secondary school. Each lesson lasts 1 hour and prices start at £35.
I am also a TEFL qualified tutor and can teach English as an additional language to pupils and adults alike.
My tutoring approach focuses on creating a student-centred and highly adaptable environment. I begin by assessing a student’s specific gaps and motivations—whether for exams or personal growth—to set clear, purposeful goals. By integrating their individual interests and unique learning styles into the curriculum, I make lessons engaging rather than repetitive. I prioritise active communication, using concept-checking questions and "pause procedures" to ensure deep understanding, while fostering a safe space where mistakes are viewed as learning opportunities. For those facing exams, I provide targeted support through exam board expertise and model answers, building the confidence and technical skill needed for high-level success.
