About Martin
I absolutely love teaching. Sharing knowledge is one of the most powerful gifts we can give.
I have worked in a variety of different settings ranging from large East London schools to tiny village schools in rural Scotland. Wherever and with whoever I work, I bring my passion, determination and commitment to helping others succeed. My teaching has been repeatedly commended for my enthusiastic delivery, extensive subject knowledge and calm, reassuring demeanour.
I have studied learning and developmental theories deeply. This understanding informs my work as I strike a balance between constructivist approaches to knowledge delivery and behavioural and neurologically-proven ways of making learning stick.
As an enormous fan of Tom Sherrington, building a positive learning relationship with the children I teach is at the heart of my work.
Outside of teaching, I am a devoted mountain climber so if I'm not teaching, I am probably on a peak somewhere!

I am experienced in a variety of approaches to teaching which will be tailored to meet the need of the individual child being taught.
I have a proven track record in raising the attainment of children with a variety of needs in vastly different settings.
After training to teach at the Institute of Education UCL, I qualified to teach in both England and Scotland with extensive experience working in both curriculums.
My lessons will range from 30 minutes to one hour depending on the age and stage of the child I am teaching.
I am able to teach children aged between 4 and 11, from reception/P1 up to Year 6/P7.
I can offer lessons ranging from stretching high-achievers to supporting those who would like a little extra help.
