About Martin
I have a Postgraduate Diploma in Learning & Teaching in Higher Education and 14 years' experience lecturing at university level. Since 2018 I have also been tutoring GCSE and A-level students. My PhD was in Ecology & Environmental Engineering, and my masters and undergraduate degrees in Environmental Science, giving me a strong background in biology, physics, engineering, statistics and computer/data science.

My approach is strongly student-centred and depends on their learning style. I always encourage my students to think for themselves. I base lessons on real-world examples wherever possible, starting from a point where the student feels comfortable, moving gently towards more complex areas. I frequently use questions to check understanding without putting the student under too much pressure.
