About Sarah

I am a mom of two adult children who are currently in college, and education has always been a central priority in our family. I have been teaching for over 15 years, and I am deeply committed to building meaningful connections with my students and creating a supportive, engaging learning environment where they feel seen and encouraged to grow.

Outside of teaching, I have a strong love for the outdoors and nature. I enjoy hiking and spending time outside whenever I can, finding it both grounding and inspiring. I also love animals and feel happiest when I’m around them or in natural settings. These passions help shape my appreciation for curiosity, patience, and lifelong learning; values I bring into both my personal life and my classroom

About the lesson

I take a patient, encouraging, and individualized approach to tutoring. With 15 years of teaching experience in grades K–8, I understand that every child learns differently. I tailor lessons to each student’s needs, learning style, and goals while creating a supportive environment where students feel confident asking questions and taking academic risks.

My teaching methods focus on building strong foundational skills in reading, literature, and writing through guided practice, discussion, modeling, and positive reinforcement. I use engaging texts, comprehension strategies, vocabulary development, writing support, and skill-based activities to help students grow in confidence and ability.

A typical lesson may include a quick skills review, targeted instruction based on the student’s needs, guided reading or writing practice, and meaningful feedback. I also help with homework, test preparation, reading fluency, comprehension, grammar, and writing organization.

What sets me apart is my 15 years of classroom experience, my Illinois teaching license, and my passion for helping children succeed in English Language Arts. I strive to make learning positive, encouraging, and engaging while helping students build confidence in their abilities.

My lessons are designed for students in grades K–8 and support learners at all levels, whether they need extra help, enrichment, homework support, or targeted instruction in reading, literature, and writing.
