About Johnny
Hey, I am Johnny Rizer.
I am currently a minor league baseball player for the Baltimore Orioles Organization. I was drafted out of Texas Christian University as the first pick in the 7th round of the 2019 MLB draft.
I started my baseball journey at the age of 7. I worked countless of hours improving my game with my father and various coaches as I got older. Once I was in high school, I was a 3-year letterman. My freshman year of college I played at University of Louisiana - Lafayette. I was told I was not ready for college ball and I could either walk on my sophomore year or go the junior college route. I quickly realized I needed to put in more practice and effort to compete at the collegiate level.
My sophomore year, I transferred to Blinn Junior College. I had to perform well or no D1 schools or scholarships would come my way. So, I overcame adversity and performed with success. I batted .354 with 11 home runs and was recruited to play at Texas Christian University my junior and senior year. I was the starting outfielder and left my mark at TCU with an incredible catch against the University of Texas that put me on Sports Centers top 10 in the number one spot.
College athletics was not an easy journey at all but I kept pursuing my dream to play, and I still am to this day.
My main goal with RizeUp is to help young players pursue their dreams and become better ballplayers.
Being in the shoes not too long ago, I want to help teach kids how to play the game the right way
I have been playing baseball since I was 7 years old. I have 16 years of experience and have learned a ton throughout this time and would like to help you expedite your learning process.
