About Morgan
I am a lifelong student and love any opportunity to get people excited about science. I completed my MS in human genetics and genomics with a 4.0 GPA. My undergraduate degree is in pre-med kinesiology. I fell in love with science at an early age, but it was all thanks to a few outstanding teachers who instilled me with their own love of science and learning. Because of this, I know how important it is to have instructors that can guide students to a better understanding of the science that exists in the world around us and how cool it truly is. I also know that not every student learns best through lectures straight from a textbook and I love designing fun and exciting ways to relate what I am teaching to whatever an individual student is passionate about. An engaging and approachable learning experience can lead to better comprehension and retention of material. I also aim to equip students with skills that will allow them to adapt any material to their own personal learning style and to gain study skills that will help them through their academic career.
I have completed my BS in pre-med Kinesiology and my MS in Human Genetics and Genomics. I regularly tutored friends and fellow students throughout my educational career. I find that the best way to verify your own understanding of a subject is to see if you can teach it to someone else and through this I have discovered my affinity for teaching.

I like to begin by evaluating the individuals learning style, interests, and background knowledge of the material we will cover. By doing this, I can ascertain how to adapt my lesson plans for each individual and ensure that I am presenting material in a way that is both effective and engaging.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Before approaching a teacher for help and resources, determine exactly what you are struggling with. Be prepared with specific questions over the material. Be sure to make an appointment if your teacher does not have designated office hours. It is also important to talk to your teachers as soon as you discover that you are struggling with a particular course. In my experience, teachers/professors will have much more to offer to a student who has been seeking assistance throughout the duration of a course as opposed to one that comes in at the end of the semester begging for extra credit to help with their final grade. Coming up with specific questions can be difficult if you are unsure of where you are struggling. Whenever I have approached a professor for additional help I first try to comb through the lectures and think of how each lecture point might be made into a test question. If I come up with a question I cannot find the answer to or the answer I found does not make sense to me, I would write it down. I have also asked professors how they recommend that I prepare for their exams. For example, I might ask if I should use my textbook to help prepare my study guide. If the teacher responds by saying the textbook should be referenced primarily for additional explanation, this means that he/she is probably not going to write exam questions from textbook material unless their lectures come directly from the textbook.
