About Rob
Taste is first and foremost, and I know the tricks to save time and maximize flavor. From baking, to roasting, to hor s'oeuvres, to parties. I'll draw on my decade of experience entertaining and cooking to show you how to up your game in the kitchen.
Larning about new people and sharing my love of food. You don't have to be a professional chef to make amazing food!
I've always been a teacher!
I have a MA degree in Russian Foreign Policy from Georgetown - maybe not EXACTLY what you'd figure for a personal chef, but over a career in the highest offices of policy and business, I've learned a thing or two about entertaining. I've been passionate about cooking since I was a kid, and I have my remarkably understanding and supportive parents to thank for driving me around Chicago looking for haricots verts and quail eggs c. 1999 (long before those were readily available)!

After I've gotten a request, I like to chat on the phone to get more details:
- Is there a specific recipe you would like to learn? Or general skills? A particular type of cuisine?
- Who will I be teaching, and how much experience do they have in the kitchen?
- Do you have any food restrictions?
- What's your motivation for learning how to cook better?
Once I've got that info, we can agree to a fee based on estimated time and hourly rate. I'll do the shopping for groceries, and you'll reimburse me for the cost of ingredients.
For example:
Groceries $49.72
Fee $75 ($25/hr x 3 hrs cooking instruction)
Total: $124.72
A few of the types of lessons I've taught recently: team-building for a corporate client, wine and desserts with the girls, a family looking for a new ways to connect to each other, and a kid's birthday make-your-own pizza party.

Details
Depending on the complexity of the meal, my hourly rate for cooking instruction is $25-40 for the first person. This does inot include the cost of groceries. Additional students are at a discounted rate.
