About Sophia
Hello! My name is Sophia Woodward and I am recent graduate of Southwestern University with a degree in Anthropology. I have a passion for cooking and teaching others how to embrace this amazing skill. I want to be open and adaptable to any students needs during this time and would love to teach any skill level or to any interest. Whatever you have in your fridge let me guide you on how to cook it! I have also made and sold french macarons for years and have always wanted to teach people how to make them!
I had been working as a line cook in Aurora and teaching children how to cook in an after school program until the Corona Virus outbreak, so I am looking to put my skills to use during this timeand hopefully continue with students in the future but in person.
My mother and I started a spanish language and cooking camp for children at our church when I was in High School. We would come up with lesson plans and adapt as we went to create a great experience for our students. I then worked with Green Gate Farms in Austin, Texas as a Farm Education Intern where I created lesson plans for their farm camp, wrote proposals for grants to fund farm projects, and lead tours for different school groups.
I have over two years of experience in the restaurant industry and about a year of experience in teaching people of all age groups.

I would like to talk with a potential student or parent before the lesson and see what they would like to get out of the lesson, what ingredients they have available, etc. I am happy to adapt to your needs! Until this time of social distancing is over I will be doing classes over video chat, once that ends I will be minimizing my "travel" distance.
I have worked with students of all ages from preschool to highschool and taught personal adult friends and family. I am not certified to work with students who are disabled but I am open working with people of all abilities. Cooking is a wonderful skill everyone should be able to enjoy.
