About Rebecca
I'm a fully qualified university-level instructor and I've been teaching as a main career for 5 years now. I also work as a tutor for middle school, highschool, and university-level students, and as a workshop instructor for members of the community. I've been tutoring now for around 10 years and I feel that I am experienced when it comes to this type of work.
I have a master's degree in fine arts, widely considered to be the terminal degree for my discipline, from a highly regarded university in the United Kingdom, and I've worked with students of all types of age groups and levels of experience from elementary school kids to senior hobbyists. I have also assisted highschool seniors with entrance portfolios and art school applications.
I believe it is very important in art education to learn both what a person's experience level is, and their goals and interests. It's impossible to help someone if you don't know where to head, so before any formal instruction occurs, I like to meet with someone and discuss where they're at and what they want from tutoring or from lessons. My art practice runs the gamut from fine art installation, sculpture, video and performance art, painting, printmaking, and drawing, to cartoons, comic books, animation, dolls, and toys. I would be glad to work with you, no matter what your specific goals and interests may be!
I find the greatest satisfaction in lighting a flame of curiosity in students and watching them go forth in the interest of self-improvement and learning. I love to see students succeed, be it in minor accomplishments or major accolades, and as a teacher, I feel a great sense of pride in having helped individuals on their personal art journeys. I enjoy learning from people just as much as I enjoy sharing knowledge, and I can only hope my enthusiasm for art is infectious.
I have a Masters of Fine Arts degree from the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne in the UK as well as 10+ years of tutoring and teaching experience. I am also a working fine artist and my work has been exhibited in the US, Canada, the UK, and Italy.

I like to first meet with a new potential student and have a casual question and answer session so that we can figure out if I am the right teacher for that individual and what their particular needs and goals are. From there, I like to outline potential lesson plans and present those options to the student so that we can discuss what might work and work from there.
I have worked with homeschool families, elementary school students, middle school students, highschool students, university students, adult learners pursuing lifelong education, and seniors looking for something to spice up their retirement. My students have ranged from general members of the community seeking art as a hobby to afterschool programs to university students seeking a career in the fine arts.
Make sure you find an instructor who is willing to listen to your needs and your interests and who will never judge you for either; well-rounded curricula must always have room for the individual.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Consider what it is you would like to gain from seeking art instruction; an art teacher cannot snap their fingers and make you a master, and it is easier to help you achieve your goals if you have a tangible idea of what those goals are.

She knows a variety of different mediums and encourages students to experiment with everything— including sticks and ink. She’s versatile and is able to move with the times.
Atelier Myousa Arts does a fantastic job at being an encouraging teacher that will push you to become a better artist. I grew immensely technically but even more when it came to creating healthy working habits, feeling no shame when creating, and taking pride in my work. You will be pushed and it will be hard at times but you will gain experience and skills far beyond what you imagined. I learned so much in her class and if given the chance, I would definitely take another class.
I liked that they are very knowledgable on so many subjects and is very willing to share that knowledge to help students learn and better themselves. While studying with them I felt very seen and very much like they cared about me as a student. I did not feel like just another student I felt like I could bring my ideas to them and they would listen and help me improve in any creative ideas I brought up.
Experimenting in art has never been more fun than it was with Myousa Arts! I learned more about the creative process and more importantly, my creative process, than I ever did at school. Highly recommend to anyone interested in learning about art!
She is very patient, knowledgeable, and open to focusing on whatever interests you most about a particular art form.
