About Maria

Being an educator allows me to keep learning and growing in knowledge. I can encourage my students to dream – Dreams lead to big ideas—which can lead to innovations and changes for the future. A teacher can inspire one to think beyond their comfort zones and challenge them to reach their fullest potential.

I started babysitting at the age of 16. In doing so, I frequently helped the children I was working with, with their school homework. Then I began to realize my love for sharing my knowledge with others and pursued teaching further. I started voluntarily teaching younger relatives and family friends. I thus became increasingly popular in my social circle for my skill and more students approached me for help.

I am a Civil Engineering major, with a minor in Bioengineering. My teaching expertise lies in the science of Biology. Additionally, I teach the Greek and English languages. I am native to both and certified with a TEFL diploma in English.

When working with a prospect, the most important aspect of the entire process is building a rapport. At this point in time, students have potentially struggled with various topics, so the importance of instilling confidence in them before any tutoring begins is essential to their success. Nevertheless, prior to scheduling sessions, I like to meet with the student and/or parent(s). We work hand in hand to build their specialized plan of action. Students create a detailed description of their current situation and their desired results. Next, we come up with a set of goals and how to implement the plan of action appropriately in order to accomplish said results. This plan depends on the immediate needs of the student, but many plans include some sort of accommodation to pre and post-session communication inorder to track progress.ntially struggled with various topics, so

I have worked with a range of ages. From primary school children to high school students as well as middle-aged individuals, upon occasion.

Look for a teacher who is a positive, pleasant, educated, and communicative personality!

The pandemic has changed us. Although being on lockdown has been pretty grueling on balance, the surprise is that many of us have realized there are some things about quarantine life that are worth preserving. We’re questioning the very fundamentals of the “normal” we’d all come to unthinkingly accept — and realizing we don’t want to go back, not to that. I personally have come to enjoy the slower rhythms of life.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Why is this important?

Why is learning this important?

What is the value of this to me as a person?

How do others use this ‘in the real world’ and how might that change how I approach the lesson or activity?

How do I think I might use this is in my daily life?

What is my role in learning this?

What do I need to be prepared (knowledge, vocab, materials, schedule, etc.)? What resources will be available to me?

What mindset will benefit me the most?

How can I use my strengths to learn this?

What do I need to do in order to learn this? What happens if I don’t?
