About Dawson
I've worked for over four years as a writing tutor at Gonzaga University, including working with freshmen through PhD students. I graduated Magna Cum Laude, and attended graduate school while advising at the Writing Center and working with Gonzaga professors to develop writing-enriched curriculum. I possess teaching credentials in Washington State for English and Social Studies, and have worked with many young learners to better their English and Social Studies skills.
I love hearing the lightbulb click on in peoples' heads during a tutoring session. There is a moment when people go from shy to confident, from nervous to confident, and from confused to understanding.
I have a BA in History and English from Gonzaga University, and a Master of Initial Teaching from Gonzaga as well.
I am certified to teach secondary English and Social Studies in all 50 states.
I have worked for five years as a professional writing tutor at Gonzaga University.

Getting to know clients is essential. Jumping right into business can often create stress in a client, so I prefer to chat for a couple minutes to get to know my client better before getting to work. This makes conversations flow easier, and allows both of us feel confident and comforable.
I also like having clients read their own work outloud. Our voices typically catch mistakes that our eyes don't, and writing becomes much more personal for someone when they are reading it aloud.
I have worked with elementary students through PhD candidates.
I recently traveled to Nelson, BC, with my girlfriend for a weekend getaway. We spent the weekend driving around and exploring with absolutely no set schedule.
