About Jennifer

I am a very patient individual when it comes to teaching. I am very caring toward my students and give them the respect they deserve. I love getting to know those that I am working with, and I strive to create a relaxed, learning atmosphere.

I would be excited to work with you to help you overcome your writing obstacles whether they be simple or challenging. English is not an easy language, nor is it easy to write. With that being said, there are no silly questions when it comes to our sessions. Feel free to ask as many questions as you want! :)

As far as experience goes, I just recently recieved my associates degree as well as earned all As in my English and writing courses. I am on the President's List for my college and also identify as a member of my school's honor society, Phi Theta Kappa.

I love everything about writing; punctuation, grammer, sentence structure, even finding the right words to use to clearly express what I am trying to say. As a writing tutor, I love helping students improve their writing each and every day. I am fascinated with the process of helping them become more confident in their writing. There is a level of satisfation that I get to experience when my students overcome their writing struggles and begin tackling new ones with confidence.

I have always had a thing for helping others. When I began tutoring students, I fell in love with the process and satisfaction of helping someone overcome their writing obstacles. Nothing makes me happier than seeing a student's face light up when they finally understand what they have been struggling with. I love watching them move on to other obstacles and conquer them with their newly-discovered confidence.

I recently earned my associates in arts degree as well as high As in all of my English and writing courses. Also, to help gain more experience and knowledge with the English language and writing, I currently work as a writing tutor at my hometown, state college.

The first step I take with new students is asking them what they are writing about. Is it academic, fictional, etc.? If it is academic, what is the assignment? If it is fictional, what is the subject? Then, I proceed by asking how they became interested in the topic just so I can get to know them better as well as develop a better understanding of what they are writing about. Finally, I ask about the areas they want to focus on the most for that session. Once I have gathered the information I need, we begin our session and tackle their questions together.

I have worked with many types of students. From entry level English to creative writing and literature, I have been successful in helping them reach their goals.

I was working with a student on an essay of hers. She was annoyed by her struggles, which is quite understandable. I could see that she was stressed and anxious. As we went through her essay, we tackled her questions together with patience. By the end of our session, she had developed a clear understanding of what she needed to do and even mentioned that English was fun. It was wonderful watching her continue through her essay with excitement.
