About Juliana

Hi! My name is Juliana, and I'm happy to help. As a recent college graduate from UCF active within my field of work (environmental studies!), I am always looking to share my knowledge and connect with others.

My college program was interdisciplinary, meaning while it is a bachelor of science, my coursework included writing, sociology, and even designing maps. I love working across several specialties which makes it easier for me to use different approaches to the same problem.

In my school days I excelled in writing and life sciences, especially biology which is my favorite subject! Whether it was peer tutoring in the library or casually helping a friend, I was already ready to give a helping hand.

Helping others and making a difference is my passion, I can't wait to work with you!

It was a natural profession from peer tutoring. Any job I had, I always wanted to teach someone and share my knowledge. Going into tutoring where I could make a difference was the natural next step.

I have experience with peer tutoring and completed an interdisciplinary bachelor's degree. I have taught plant biology and care in an informal outdoor environment for 1 year. As a student, I made all A's and B's and took several AP courses.

About the lesson

I like to take 5-10 minutes to get to know the student. What are your hobbies, what do you want to do when you grow up? Do you like art or play any sports? Getting to know you helps us get more comfortable and breaks the ice for asking questions. Next I'll ask to see some of your coursework and find out if there's any specific areas you're having trouble with.

I have worked with 3rd-12th graders.

Make sure you don't just pick the most qualified, but also who you feel the most comfortable with. If you're afraid to make mistakes or ask questions after the first session, it may not be a good fit!

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Try to narrow down what you need help with as much as possible. If you're really just totally lost (it happens!) start by saying what you do know.
