About Elizabeth

My name is Elizabeth and I am a current senior at the University of Southern California. I study Health & Human Sciences which is an interdisciplinary degree. Therefore, I have experience with all science courses, writing courses, and Spanish courses at the university level. Specifically, I excel at teaching General Biology, English Literary Analysis, and Spanish (especially for beginners who may struggle with language acquisition). I have been tutoring since I was 12 years old when I became a math tutor for my middle school. I continued tutoring throughout my high school years where I primarily assisted my peers in AP English courses. I received a score of 5 on both the AP Lang. and AP Lit. exams. During my college career, I have co-taught biology and Spanish classes for elementary aged students through my university’s Joint Educational Program. As you can see, I love being a tutor and have done it all my life. I am a patient and enthusiastic person and I enjoy helping students at all levels!

When working with a new student I ask them to bring a few things with them for our first meeting. Firstly, I ask to see materials from the classes they are struggling with so I can analyze their notes and begin to understand the way they are being taught in class and the way they personally process information so I can formulate a plan to best assist them as an individual. For my older students, I also ask that they bring 1-3 specific goals to our first session. Goals help students visualize their progress and it will also ensure that they are developing goal-based studying routines for the future which will help them in higher education.
