About Melissa
Learning is not a 1 size fits all process. I am currently a kindergarten teacher. I have experience in K, 1, 3, 4 and held a position that specialized in K-4 math previously. I also know basic sign language. I am certified in Google applications and I love integrating technology into my class and tutoring.
I love seeing progress in children and helping them boost their confidence and their self esteem. I love making learning fun and engaging for children.
I was a sub/leave replacement in a Long Island public school and now I work in the DOE
I received my bachelors in general education grades 1-6 and my masters in special education grades 1-6. I received my B-2 general Ed extension in March of 2021 and I am certified in google. I have courses in dyslexia and ADHD as well.

For a new student I usually like to take a session, sometimes 2, to get to know the child as a person and a student. I like to see what they know, and what they like. I like to see where they are most comfortable working and what their favorite and least favorite subjects are.
