About Anne
I am a licensed teacher in multiple subjects and I have experience with elementary, middle and high school students. My lessons are student-centered which means I adjust them for what works best for my students' learning styles.
I love getting to know students and seeing how we can work together to achieve our goals. I also enjoy meeting new people and using my knowledge to help others. I also enjoy learning new things myself as I work with students who come from many different backgrounds and have many different experiences.
I tutored when I was a high school student in English and Spanish. I switched my major when I was a sophomore in university to bilingual education. I have been in the teaching field since 2015 and I sometimes tutor when I have more time.
I have experience with tutoring ESL, writing, reading and editing essays. I also have a BS in bilingual education from Boston University and I am currently teaching/studying part-time for my Masters at Boston University.

My initial session with a student would consist of getting to know that student academically and as a person. I have a survey for them that gauges how they are as a learner and what their interests are (interests will help me see what types of stories, articles or potential topics I can use to engage them).
I have an outline ready for them of what sessions will look like based on information I know about them before I take them on but I have a few skill checks ready for them during the first session to see whether things need to be ammended.
I have mostly worked with students in grades 4-12. I have worked with students from many different backgrounds. Grammar and writing/editing tend to be my specialities (along with anything ESL related) but as I indicate in my profile, I am open to tutoring in more areas.
