About Steven

Our Mission Statement: To develop realistic strategies and dynamic tactics that will deepen and expand the critical thinking skills of students who are committed to graduating from high school and college and motivated to completing a meaningful degree, certificate or license from an appropriate higher educational institution or trade school.

We want to better prepare students for improved success in high school, college and life by learning to apply common sense skills on how to build better habits and increased self-awareness.

I get to personalize your needs for who you are based on your goals, your needs, and your abilities.

One size, or way of teaching, does not fit all! Everybody learns at different rates and sometimes the rate is too fast to stay caught up in a race that is not a race but the beginning of a lifetime of learning.

I believe to make someone run at a pace that is too fast will promote a lack of enthusiasm to even try to complete.

My main goal is to promote success through personal accountability that is fostered through positive thought processes that will grow into lifelong successful attitudes, practices, and actions!

I have two Master Degrees in Education consisting of studies in Student Development, Student Engagement, Student Advising, Workforce Development, Higher Education Law, Fundamentals of Curriculum, Educational Research, the College Environment, Online Distance Learning, and creating better ways to design educational content to improve teaching methods and enhance student learning online and in the classroom. I also hold higher education graduate certifications in College Teaching, Community College Leadership, and Professional Writing.

My teaching position at a major Ohio university involves teaching Introduction to Human Communications to Seniors, Juniors, Sophomores, and First-Year students as well as a course designed for First-Year college students on how to make a successful academic transition from high school to college. I engage my first-year classroom students with topics that include Time Management, Organizational Skills, Career Planning, Goal Setting, Study Skills, Academic Integrity, Small Group Work, Diversity and Discrimination, choosing an appropriate Major, Financial Responsibility, and Academic Policies & Procedures.
