About Kerry

I graduated with a degree in English in 2019 from Framingham State University and am now currently earning my M.Ed. in Secondary Education at Merrimack College. I am also a licenced full time teacher at Peabody High School. I am very good with technology and have a real passion for teaching English. Your child's learning and enjoyment of learning are my top priorities. I look forward to hearing from you and sharing my passion!

Teaching is something I have wanted to do since I could remember. I love working with children and seeing them grow as individuals in and out of the classroom.

I have my Bachelors in English and I am about halfway through my M.Ed. in Secondary Education program at Merrimack College. I am currently a permanent substitute teacher and hope to get my own classroom next year.

About the lesson

Knowing and understanding your child is a must for me. Do they like sports? Music? Art? I want to know it all, it helps break the ice and make everyone feel calmer. It is also important to me to understand how the student learns. For example, there are visual, auditory, reading/writing, and kinesthetic learners. In other words, Student A may not learn as quickly or efficiently as Student B due to how they are receiving the information. Once I know how they learn, we can go from there. Unfortunately with English, a lot of it is reading and writing, but there are still ways to make it fun no matter what the learning style.

I have worked with students of different racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds. I have also worked with students who have heavy behavioral issues, as well as special education.

Come in with an open mind. Believe it or not, I was not a huge reader growing up. It was not until later in high school when I started to enjoy reading, and I now am very glad that I do!

A recent event I am fond of would have to be of the 7th grade girls basketball team I coach. We went from last year having a fairly decent season, to being first in our division this year. I have grown really close to these girls and am very excited for next season.
