About Rachel
Rachel Blumenthal is the Principal Flutist of the Battle Creek Symphony Orchestra and is the Second Flutist of the Des Moines Symphony Orchestra. She has also performed with the Lyric Opera of Chicago, the Louisville Orchestra, the Albany Symphony, and many ensembles in the Chicago area.
As a soloist and chamber musician, Rachel has performed at Disney Hall in Los Angeles; the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.; Orchestra Hall in Detroit; and in Ann Arbor’s 3500-seat Hill Auditorium. She has performed across the globe, from the United States to Canada, China, Germany, Poland, and the Czech Republic. Rachel has spent summers performing with the Lake George Music Festival (NY), the Aspen Music Festival (CO), the National Repertory Orchestra (CO), and the Brevard Music Center (NC).
Rachel is a native of Chicago, where she currently maintains a private studio in Hyde Park. She graduated from the University of Michigan with Highest Honors and received her master’s degree from Carnegie Mellon University. Her teachers were Jeanne Baxtresser, Alberto Almarza, and Amy Porter.
