About Zoe
I am a dedicated student looking to help others in English. I enjoy reading, writing, and editing; I am interested in sharing my passion with others and improving as authors together!
I currently work as a part-time tutor, and have acted as a peer counselor and tutor at my high school. I am part of the school newspaper, and edit short stories and poems for the literary magazine.
I can create study guides and quizzes, direct students to resources that have helped me in the past, and tailor lessons or activities based on students' personality and expectations! I am patient, kind, responsible, and eager to teach!
Working with students is a lot of fun, and I have always loved to read and write. Making sure that students are happy in their studies means a lot to me.
When I was younger, I would work with my sister to finish her homework, and enjoyed teaching crafts and activities in Girl Scouts. In middle school, I was recommended to the peer counseling and tutoring program, and have been participating ever since! School is very important to me, and making sure everyone can succeed is even more so!
I am currently a high school student, but I have participated in many extracurriculars based around both writing and teaching.

I like to talk with a student before accepting any payment, to figure out if I'm a right fit for their learning style and personality. I go over what I expect from them as a student (just optimism and hard work!) and any requests they have for me. We make a list of goals for our time together (getting homework done, reading new books, improving an English grade, working on essays or creative writing, etc.) and get started from there!
I have worked mainly with my peers - middle school and high school students - in different areas of study, but I always preferred English.
I would advise a student to find someone they could personally connect with, someone who really encouraged and helped them to do well! Literature and writing is so subjective, and finding the right person for the job is really integral.
I recently read Jon Meacham's American Lion, a biography on President Andrew Jackson, for the first time. It wasn't dry at all, more a character study than a retelling of history, and the complexities of Jackson's personality and policies shone through. I would recommend it!
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
I think students should consider what they want to gain out of a tutoring experience, and what they expect from their tutors. Emotional support? Daily checkups? It's all about the student, as a client, and their opinions and preferrences are the ones to most carefully consider.

My pricing is dependent on the situation of the client. If you're a struggling student or parent who's short on cash, I'll happily work for free! Your education is more important than any payment, and I would love to work with you. Otherwise, I'm sure we can discuss a reasonable payment. My standard is generally $10/hour, but that price is negotiable.
