Strings n Raga is a music Academy based in Kolkata (India),that brings under one roof several music instructors ,teaching different subjects like ,Guitar (jazz,rock, blues, bollywood, metal), percussive guitar, Hindustani classical vocals , Tabla ,Drums and percussion, Mouth organ , Keyboards etc...The academy intends to serve the NRI diaspora all over the world to help them fulfill their musical goals at very affordable pricings and also to provide quality pedagogy by industry professionals.The academy also serves foreign citizens who are interested to learn Indian classical vocals , ghazals ,tabla etc by Indian gurus providing individual and group classes on skype , zoom , hangout etc at very affordable pricing.
Music is perhaps the most unifying n liberating spirit in the Universe and to be associated with a musical profession ,be it as a performer or an instructor we feel really blessed. All the faculties at String n Raga focus to impart a strong foundation in the students ,be it any subject.We focus on music theory, sight reading and gradually move to songs and compositions..we intend to empower the students with skills of improvisation and inspire them towards creating their own music n find their own voice n style as artists.periodical assessment tests are taken to analyze the improvement of the students..we also train students according to a fixed curriculum or syllabus if the students wish to appear for gradation exams under various boards n colleges
I hv taught all kinds of students in the last 12years, from 5 year old kids to retired senior citizens , from absolute beginners to advanced players looking for developing a specific skill set..from amateur artists to studio session players.All the faculties at String n Raga are experienced teachers and are comfortable with all kinds of students

Shovik is nice teacher he teaches kids with patience. He tries to understand kids level of understanding and slowly he gives all part of challenging work. He also makes sure that kids understand all assignments.
I have a wonderful experience while learning with Shovik . He is a great teacher and teaches his students with fully energy and enthusiasm.
Extremely fun and effective musical journey overall, structured way of teaching, having fun and developing musicality in every class and ofcourse getting exposed to new forms of music and learning to love music in a different way.
