Rob is truly gifted teacher with a deep knowledge of music theory and current teaching methods. He doesn't just teach his students to play music, He teaches them to CREATE music. My son made more progress with Rob in 6 months than he had in years of previous traditional instruction. Rob really cares about his students and his passion is contagious. Since working with Rob, I have not once had to remind my son to practice. Playing and composing are two of his favorite free time activities! I highly recommend Rob without any reservation. He's an inspiration to my son!
Rob brings some kind of crazy magical spark to the piano instruction with my teenage kids. He's talented, energetic, and positive. I write this without hesitation: When it comes to teaching music, he changes the game. My children look forward to their lessons.
Rob is a skilled, enthusiastic and very personable teacher. My two teenage children started playing piano in first grade and had an amazing teacher in the bay area. We moved to Austin and have had a hard time finding the right fit—someone to keep their interest turned on even in light of heavy academic demands. They look forward to their lessons and genuinely have a fun time while learning to approach the piano in a way that they become better musicians with a greater understanding of music in general.
Patient, warm-hearted, organized in the teaching methods and easy to follow. Versed in many different styles, and always helpful in teaching how to be musical, which can surprisingly be a rare quality to find in music teachers sometimes.
I took voice and guitar lessons from Rob. He was very good at communicating the point of each lesson.
Rob taught my daughter Nadia guitar for a year before leaving for Japan. He was able to build on her musical knowledge as a violinist and quickly bring her to a level of proficiency at which she could play a number of fairly complex classical Spanish guitar pieces. He also worked with her on mastering contemporary popular music from Taylor Swift to Green Doors. Rob was an excellent teacher who explained and showed technique patiently and clearly and who really assisted my daughter in achieving her musical goals.
Instead of taking the approach that's basically "learn this" like most teachers, he encourages you to create your own version and/or manipulate different aspects of a song, and it's awesome to learn in this way
Rob is an attentive teacher who is invested in his student's growth and progress on the guitar. If you want a teacher who will challenge, inspire and motivate you - Rob is your guy!
Robert made the lessons fun while learning a lot.
He is always very calm and kind to us. He doesn't get emotional, but that does not mean he never points out our mistakes. He teaches us why they didn't go well and how we could improve. I love my guitar lessons because they are always very fun and interesting.
I think this lesson is very flexible and not too strick so good. It doesn't use any textbook so we can play any song we want to learn.
