About Paul
I teach classical gutiar. I teach solid foundations of guitar playing that help you become the best guitarist you can be.
I love the classical guitar, the mellow sounds of a well played nylon string guitar. It's something about the level of detail and technique that it takes that has addicted me to this music. There is so much that this style (fingerstyle) can do, but it's surprisingly not used as it should be. That's why I love to share my passion about this instrument.
One day I asked Dr. Phil Synder (my guitar teacher at the time) if I was at a level where I could start teaching myself. He said yes and I started teaching through a church related ministry.
Currently, I'm going through the process to start teaching with Dr. Daniel Nistico and CCG (The Creative Classical Guitarist) organization.
I have had the privilege of being taught by Dr. Phil Synder of the Georgia Guitar Quartet and Mary Ackerman who among other achievements has had the honor of being selected to perform in the 1986 Segovia Master Class. I've also been taught by Dr. Daniel Nistico of CCG (The Creative Classical Guitarist) and hope to be teaching with him in 2022.
I have had several independent students over the years.

Evalute to see where the student is as far as playing technique, reading music, etc. and find out why they want to learn this instrument.
Establish a study/learning model based on where the student is and where they want to be. This is a goal-oriented process. The student may want to learn a piece that they are not ready for yet.
Teach the student, which includes not only what to learn, but how to learn, how to practice, and how to apply the skills they are being taught.
I also try to let the student know that this will not be an overnight process.
Mostly younger students, but some older ones. Each student has a different style of learning.
Look for that teacher who is focused on being your guide. Some teachers are all about what they can do and not so much about the student. Seek that teacher who is more interested in teaching you the details of how to play instead of the next biggest brightest song the student might want to learn (they can learn that too). Seek a balanced teacher. If a teacher has some form of lesson plan that is a big plus.

Learning an instrument is a dedicated task, it's not over night, are you willing to put in the time that it will take to learn the instrument (usually around 2 years of dedicated practice to form a good foundation)?
