About Leah
I am a summa cum laude graduate from Mount St. Joseph University. I graduated in December 2022. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Education of elementary and special education. I hold a teaching license in Primary Education (kindergarten to 5th grade) and Special Education (kindergarten to 12th grade). Additionally, I earned my Associate of Applied Science in Early Childhood Education from Cincinnati State.
The subjects I tutor are elementary English Language Arts, Math, and Science. I am most passionate and have the most experience tutoring and teaching students in English Language Arts. My tutoring methods in English Language Arts are Orton Gillingham, phonics, and the Science of Reading. Due to my background in special education, I enjoy creating learning plans for individual students. I teach students strategies to increase their confidence and content understanding. I identify gaps in learning, meet students where they are, and create a plan to improve individual student learning outcomes.
I have been teaching and tutoring students for 7+ years. I have worked with students individually, in small groups, and a classroom setting. I have volunteered to tutor students after school, worked in preschools, daycare centers, and practicum/student teaching experiences in preschool, elementary, and middle schools. Since graduation, I have been a substitute teacher for elementary and middle schools. I plan to work as an intervention specialist for the 2023/2024 school year.
