About Ciro
My name is Ciro Mazuera.
I entered education driven by a love of children, a passion for reading, and a deep appreciation for the moments when students discover their own potential. My goal is for each student to leave the classroom feeling at least 1% more capable than they did the day before. I believe in student-centered learning not as a slogan, but as a commitment to honoring student voice, curiosity, and lived experience.
I view mistakes as essential to growth — opportunities for reflection rather than sources of shame. I hold that rigor and empathy are not mutually exclusive, but mutually reinforcing. My instructional style is responsive rather than fixed; I adapt to student needs by shifting between roles — as a guide, a collaborator, or a listener — depending on what the moment calls for.
With 6 years between Success Academy, KIPP NYC, and Zeta’s individual whole-child ethos, I am uniquely equipped to help students thrive. I embraced rigorous academic standards, developing the stamina to meet ambitious targets. I practiced analyzing student data to reveal growth areas, set lofty goals for the students, while fostering grit and accountability. This, in turn, drove impressive academic gains for students and affirmed my belief that when students are challenged with purpose and supported with care, they rise.
Building on that foundation, I further fueled my passion for cultivating students
self-worth alongside academic excellence.
