About Amanda
Math isn't just about memorizing facts, it's about understanding HOW we got to that answer. I love teaching math because there is never just one way to find an answer. Everyone sees a solution differently and I encourage students to work the problem out however they are most comfortable.
Like most teachers I love seeing the light bulb go off when a student finally understands something! They will remember how to do something I taught them for the rest of their lives and I feel like that makes a difference for both of us.
I worked as a 5th grade math teacher for 8 years and worked with Purdue University on inquiry based lessons.

I like to give a quick assessment to see where they are and what they need to work on. I don't want to waste their time going over information they already know.
