About Wendy
I'm able to explain things to people in a way they can understand. I can also empathize with their frustrations of having difficulties learning. I offer encouragement to never give up! Always strive for their goals no matter how big or small. They will be proud of themselves when they've achieved their goals.
I love helping people have their Aha! moment. I think I get more out of it than they do. When you get compliments from your students telling you that you explained things better than their teacher with a master's degree or PhD is very gratifying. I love being able to explain any topic I've taught to anyone in a way they can understand.
I started going to the math lab for tutoring, and began hanging out in there to do my homework. That led to me helping other students when the tutors were too busy. I wound up getting a job in there shortly thereafter, and found I had a knack for teaching/tutoring.
I have a BS in mathematics and started tutoring in 1993. I also had my frustrations and needed tutoring in math as well, so I can relate to my students frustrations which helps me create a rapor with them.

I like to get to know my students stregths and weaknesses. What is it they are having trouble understanding and explaining it to them in a way they can understand. If I can use something they can relate to it makes it much easier for them to understand.
I have worked with students of all ages from K to college in all levels of math from arithmetic to Calculus, linear algebra, and differential equations.
Look for a tutor who has good communication skills and is good at explaining things. Just because they have a PhD doesn't mean they will be good at explaining things to you. It would be a waste of your time and money
I have run into a few high school students I taught that thanked me for teaching them and explaining things in a way they could understand.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
What is it about the subject that you are having trouble understanding? Are you getting stuck in one area or the entire matter? Does the tutor need to explain things to you from the beginning? Do you need to understand the overall idea or just the details?

I charge $50 an hour for 1 on 1 tutoring, and I also offer a group session for the same price which can be divided up between the students.
