About Michele
I've been a teacher for over 20 years in all elementary grade levels, and love teaching reading, and language arts, including writing. I teach all math skills up to the level of Algebra II.
I love teaching and working with students, so it's extra enjoyable to get to work one on one with a student!
I grew up with a brother who had reading problems, and that inspired me to go into teaching, and I've loved it ever since!
I have a B.A. in Psychology and a Master's Degree in Special Education. I've been teaching in the elementary grades for 30 years.

I want to get to know the student a little first, and establish that it's okay to ask me any questions about material they're having a hard time understanding. I'm there for them, so any question is great.
I've worked as a resource teacher over the years with all students in kindergarten through 8th grade. I've tutored for several years with students from 1st grade to 8th grade, in all language arts areas, and in all math areas up to 8th grade algebra.
Don't be afraid to ask questions to get to know the tutor, and make sure you feel comfortable with the person - and feel like you are able to ask any questions about your work. There are different ways to learn things, so make sure the tutor is teaching in a way that works for you.
I'm applying now during home based learning in my district due to the COVID-19 virus. If there can be any silver lining, it has been watching my nephew learn and work at home!
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
They should know what works best for them to learn a concept, and ask for that.
In working with students, I want them to feel comfortable, so if there was something they asked that they didn't think through, I would hope to guide them in the right direction.
