About Isabelle
I provide an individualized approach to tutoring and allow the student to lead in the discussion. I help them figure out what areas they need the most work in and then focus on the central issues that they may be having with the topic in order to more clearly explain where they may be going wrong and help them to correct their mistake. This creates a set of problem-solving and critical thinking skills that the student can carry with them throughout the rest of their education.
I started by tutoring friends and then fellow classmates and then children in my neighborhood.
I have tutored for the last two years. I am also a sophomore at North Carolina State University and I am minoring in Mathematics and majoring in Zoology.

I start usually by asking them what they have the most trouble with-- allowing them to then explain what their thought process is. If there is a simple arithmetic error or something of that nature then its a quick fix. If there is an issue in technique or process, I prefer to walk the student through examples and provide helpful tips in order to correct what they may be getting wrong. I find that this is the most effective way to get children to notice their mistakes and fine-tune their skills more independently.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
I think one of the biggest issues I see with higher order math is honestly just algebra mistakes. Be sure to double check that there aren't any basic math errors before giving up on the problem!

Details
I usually charge around $20-25 per hour depending on the situation. Usually, if it's just some basic homework help or help with test corrections I charge on the lower side whereas for test prep and what I like to call "head start" tutoring (tutoring where I introduce a subject before it is introduced in class to provide a base level of understanding) is on the higher end.
